It was a frustrating first 3 quarters of football, but the 4th quarter was magical with the offense finally clicking.

It was the first win in many weeks – and it was the first time to see things go K-State’s way.

It interesting to see Sams throw for almost 100 yards, going 8-for-8; however he only had 16 yards on 13 carries. Waters, despite showing some more running abilities, threw awesome strikes at crucial moments. Lockett had 3 TD receptions, Thompson had one, and Hubert ran in for a score with 21 seconds left in the game.

It felt really good leaving Bill Snyder Family Stadium with a win. It’s been too long…

Anna performed this weekend in 4 showings of the musical “Jekyll & Hyde”. She was a member of the chorus ensemble and was also a dancer.

It was interesting seeing Anna in this role as she portrayed a dance hall girl (i.e., lady of the night). She danced and sang very well (albeit seductively) supporting the main cast.

Not having seen this musical before, I enjoyed the performance because I sat there entertained the whole time. Only a couple occasions reminded me that it was a high school offering. In fact, a couple times, I thought to myself “I wonder how much better that kid is going to be in a couple years”.

Anna had been attending after-school rehearsals for about 6 weeks and it’ll be nice to have her home for a change.

Congratulations, Anna.

Our old living room furniture that we purchased more than 10 years ago upon buying our house has left the building.

New furniture is to be delivered in the next couple days.

Here’s hoping the Consignment Store can do better than Craig’s List.

The Kansas State Alumni Association has pavers in their grand patio that are inscribed with personal messages. Linda and her father share a paver:

Maag Wildcats
Rodney 1966 & 78
Linda 1993 & 97

We often try to visit it. This time we figured we’d get pictures.

It was loud and rambunctious in Bill Snyder Family Stadium. There was only a few minutes left and Kanas State was leading over the #15 Baylor Bears 25-21. It looked like we could do it. But, once again, penalties and a turnover made the difference.

A late touchdown by Baylor made it 35-25, which makes it look like it wasn’t as close as it really was. We gave up 3 touchdown passes over 50 yards – quick strikes that felt like daggers.

The Cats played well and we kept up with a team that was getting 70 points a game. This one kind of hurt, but it just doesn’t seem to be our year.

We get a week off and then we take on West Virginia at home. Looking forward to that game as a possible first Big XII win.

Never give up – we love our Kansas State Wildcats.

Last night, the K-State Wildcats survived a tough, physical game. They won 44-20, but the score doesn’t explain the nail-biting fashion in which the contest was played out.

Oklahoma State played well on both sides of the ball, but 5 turnovers would prove to be costly as the Wildcats were able to capitalize on those and also keep the Cowboys from scoring.

Unfortunately, there were several injuries suffered on both teams – most importantly, Collin Klein came out in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Those of us at the game had no idea what happened or why he was out. However, those watching the TV broadcast were told it was due to a hyperextension of his wrist. If that’s all it was, he should be back next week. Although…we’ll never know until then as Coach Snyder makes no comments on injuries.

K-State travels to TCU next week. Here’s hoping we extend our BCS ranking of #2.

For the 3rd year in a row, the Wildcats scored more than 50 points in the annual Sunflower Showdown.

The first half was actually a good ballgame with KU playing hard and using some good ol’ fake punts and fake field goals to get down the field. However, Coach Snyder cannot be outcoached and the Cats are better athletes.

The third quarter was an absolute shellacking, with multiple turnovers and a whole lot of points put up on the board. At one point, it took 3.9 plays per drive for KSU to score. It was almost too easy.

It was a wonderful day to be in Manhattan – and it was good to finally have the game hosted there as the last two were in Lawrence.

Iowa State went on the road and beat TCU; this is the next team we play – in Ames, Iowa. Here’s hoping for a good solid performance by the guys in purple on October 13.

Sally is such a patient dog – even putting up with Emily dressing her up in a tutu.

It’s absolutely adorable watching her, hips sway back and forth as she walks with the tutu on.

We’ve said many times “Sally may not be smart, but she sure is pretty”.

It was a well-fought game throughout the whole game. It came down to 3 turnovers for Oklahoma and the Wildcats winning time of possession.

John Hubert had a great day rushing the ball. Collin Klein had solid numbers. Ryan Doerr pinned OU inside the 20 and all five of his punts. There were no big special teams scores this time, but everyone played well.

Defense rocked. Aside from the quality play of Arthur Brown, other guys stepped up to make quality tackles when they needed to be made. The defensive line put pressure on QB Jones for the whole game (which we never did last year). The turnovers were key: a Ty Zimmerman interception off of QB Jones, a fumble by QB Jones that resulted in a touchdown, and another fumble by QB Bell”dozer” at the goal line. Those were all big plays that kept momentum going our way.

I, unfortunately, did not get to watch the game as it transpired. I was working in the ER and kept busy enough the whole time that my colleagues were keeping track of the score for me. However, when I got home at 11pm, Linda and I watched the whole game. It’s always nice to fall asleep with a smile on your face.
