Spring Piano Recital – May 9, 2015

Linda had the spring piano recital for her studio this past weekend. It’s so entertaining watching and hearing how all of the students have progressed from one year to another. Anna and Emily used to be the little kids that played the simple songs at the beginning of the recital. Now, they are two of the older students that are playing some big pieces.

Enjoy listening to Anna (Chopin Waltz in A Minor) and Emily (Schumann Traumerei) play.

Piano Studio Christmas Concert

Each year, Linda has all of her piano students play Christmas songs at a local nursing home. It’s a good opportunity for the kids to do an additional recital and also a chance to do some community service for the residents at the nursing home. We arrived at the nursing home the other evening with many eager folks waiting to hear the kids play. They sang along and genuinely enjoyed themselves.

Enjoy the pieces that Emily and Anna played:

Emily – Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Anna – Go Tell It On the Mountain

Anna – A Celebration of Carols

KCMTA 2014 Fall Festival

Once again Anna and Emily played in the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Fall Festival. They’ve been working hard on these pieces for the past few months. As always, Linda has provided amazing guidance and teaching. We are very proud.

Here is Anna playing Mozart: Fantasia in G Minor, K 397

And here is Emily playing Haydn: Sonata in G Major 4th Mvt

If you’d like to take a look at last year, here is a link to the KCMTA 2013 Fall Festival.

Anna & Emily spring piano recital

The spring piano recital was back on May 3, but I’ve been a bit lax in entering information here on the blog. I was good about getting the videos up to YouTube and on Facebook, but a bit slow here.

However, here are the piano performances from Anna and Emily.
Unfortunately, Anna’s video cut short about 45 seconds from the end of the piece.

Anna: Beethoven – Sonata Op 27, No 2 I. Adagio sostenuto (“Moonlight”)

Emily: Haydn: Allegro scherzando Hob. III 75/4

Spring Piano Recital 2013

Linda had her spring piano recital several days ago. Of course, Emily and Anna played. It was an absolute joy listening to them play on this recital; they have continued to blossom into wonderful musicians.

Enjoy Emily playing Mazurka in F Major by Chopin:

Next, please enjoy Anna playing Polonaise in G minor by Chopin:

Finally, here is a group picture of all her students:

Emily & Keyboard Camp

Emily attended the 2012 Kansas State University Keyboard Camp – along with 7 other teen participants. The weeklong camp was run by the keyboard division of the Department of Music – including a professor that taught Linda while we were there, Dr. Virginia Hauser. Dr. David Pickering was the organ instructor; Dr. Hauser was her piano instructor.

Emily stayed in the dorms with a friend during the camp. The days were busy with lessons, practicing, field trips, and adventures in dorm dining.

Emily appeared to have an absolute blast. Included in the video below are an organ piece (her first week playing the organ) and a piano piece that she started after arrival to the camp.

Anna is off doing another summer activity that will be discussed in an upcoming post.
